l have a small room with a small wooden bed, a small white desk, a small babe`ster white dresser, a small overstuffed flower patterned chair and a small Registered User metal vanity. At the moment it is painted two different shades of pink. l Joined: Saturday, 8th of May 2010, 22:09:32 want it to be purple and black and l am planning on making it an old Posts: 1673 Hollywood/Marilyn Monroe inspired room. Some ideas l have were getting a Viewed 4372 times new vanity and lots of makeup to throw around on it, a poster of Marilyn
Monroe, an old antique roll of film to hang on the wall, black and white
film shots from that era, Marilyn Monroe/Coco Chanel is quotes on the
wall, getting a new comforter and pillows, changing up the curtains,
changing out the lights for a chandelier, and taking cork tiles and making
them look like scrabble tiles so l can write my favorite things on them and
hang them up. l need advice on how to convince my parents to let me do
this, how to raise money (no spamming this question by saying l should
earn money online, those are dumb rip-offs), places to get cute/affordable
furniture, and just tips for redecorating in general. If you could help
that would be great. Thanks! <3

I think you have some good ideas there. The only thing that Dippity Do Da doesn't seem to fit the theme & feel of the Marilyn Monroe stuff is the Registered User Scrabble tile idea. Joined: Tuesday, 8th of June 2010, 19:01:36 Posts: 114 I also suspect that the room would look better with fewer pieces of Viewed 13881 times furniture. Could the desk double as a vanity? A few larger pieces
usually looks better than many small pieces in a room.
For inexpensive bedding, you might try a new duvet cover in a solid color,
or a bed in a bag set also in a solid color. When you spend less money on
bedding, somehow prints usually are outdated & cheap looking. Solids are
safer & look more luxurious. You can always add prints to spice things up
in pillow cases & other accents. A microsuede or satin cover might be
especially fitting for Monroe.
An inexpensive way to do curtains is to get the no-sew curtain clips
(about $5), & then hang fabric or sheets. You might dress up the sheet
curtains with something. iron on a strip of black satin ribbon, for
instance.
For inexpensive furniture, try rummage sales or Ikea.
For a chandelier look, you might also be able to hang costume necklaces
like faux pearls or clear cut acrylic beads from a frame & hang it around
the light fixture you have.
Other ideas that strike me as Marilynesque. a large round mirror,
displaying high heeled shoes like sculpture, a faux-fur throw for the bed
in white, brown, or pink.
Your room sounds fun! :)

well i amm getting my room done as well & i asked from my Bubby birthday they said ok!. i am already looking & i found GREAT stuff at Registered User ikea. but you should really go to the department store i swear i have Joined: Friday, 4th of June 2010, 22:03:18 never seen anything like it. my jaw just dropped( at the store.the website Posts: 1649 is ok) theres like a thousand diffrent fans & lights & curtains & rugs & Viewed 13728 times desks & chairs & pictures & beds. for really great prices. i get all my
tables & desks there & never had a problem you pick what you want from the
store then go to lke the basement & you have EVERYTHING you saw in the
store in the basement. f you want to cut anything for measuremnts they do
that to. so they would seaqrch the whole warehouse, you wait in line &
then you got it! you get it on that day. also lowes & target has some
great cheap lamps & chairs. i suggest you really try ikea they have them
everywhere & i love it! good luck!
